Looking forward seeing what Celestron have answered. This issue is not resolved. The fan wire goes through a hot, sharp edged, heat-sink, so shorting out is not a big surprise. Just moving the camera around would could eventually lead to cutting the insulation. Though I typically do Citizen Science type images it is fun to take some color images from time to time and this camera works pretty well for that sort of thing.

Hopefully there will sooftware an update to 3. In fact, when I first purchased the Nightscape camera there was an issue with the driver, in that it was failing to properly close the internal shutter when taking darks.

Regardless, I greatly appreciate the efforts of everybody out there who works so hard to give us astronomers free and cheap software, and I am confident that it will eventually all get sorted out to the benefit of us all.

Hope that Celestron will take the appropriate action. Though I typically do Citizen Science type images it is fun to take some color images from time to time and this camera works pretty well for that sort of thing. The trick of using it without cooling is to shoot darks at around the same temperature that you shoot the images and then subtract them.
The driver fails to connect to some software, raising the same errors and exceptions.
I will post if there are any developments. This was embarrassing for me, and annoying to Chris Rowland. I bought the Celestron Nightscape Camera from Celestron. After disconnecting the fan, re-installing the separate driver and setting it up on Maxim, it worked fine. Anyway Celestron are wrong.

The driver was downloaded from the Celestron Support site. It is down to Celestron to support their products. Gentlemen; You have closed this ticket prematurely. I have not lost confidence in Celestron, and still believe that this matter can be resolved in a professional manner that satisfies me, a longtime owner and user of Softwsre astronomy gear.
CELESTRON CCD
There are a lot of Nightscape owners out there who have made significant investments in this Celestron product, and who deserve to be supported. Perhaps it has integrated it's own Chooser? The issue was bright squiggly lines across all the images, plus the cooling fan no longer worked.
